Today we start a little series of interviews that has 2 parts: Part 1 - Arno Cost, part 2 - Norman Doray. Over 2009 the boys have enjoyed success together playing several times during the summer at David Guetta’s now globally acclaimed night “Fuck me I’m Famous” held at Pacha Ibiza. In the end of October both released their compilation “Live & Direct Norman Doray and Arno Cost” that you can win on HousePlanet while you answer the following question: When Cr2 Records was founded and who was the founder of this record label? Now it’s Arno’s part!

Please introduce yourself a little:

My name is Arno Cost and Im 23 years old. I live in paris and ive been making music for 8 years now.

How did you get started on music and since when are you a DJ?

When i was a kid, i used to play for my mates’ birthdays. I loved to put cds and choose myself the music. Then i wanted to make my own music. I remember i used little softwares like Dance Ejay. It was fun !!! A few years later, when my music was better, i decided to make tracks more seriously. I signed my first EP “Everywhere” in 2005. After that, i was decided to become a DJ to be able to play my tracks for people !

You have had gigs in different locations. Which club/location has impressed you the most so far?

Well I would say Japan was the best gig ever for me ! It was completely crazy, people were jumping everywhere !! The club was Warehouse and it was their anniversary. Its really nice to know that people 15 000 km from your country know your music !! And Tokyo is such a great city ! The best one to live i think !

What are your current favourite tracks?

I would say my two tracks at the moment are Cirez D - On Off and Dosem - Beach Kisses (Joris Voorn Remix). Different styles but both are really sexy !!!

What kind of music do you listen to privately?

I listen to pop music like Phoenix, Lilly Allen, Radiohead...A lot of rock n roll and of course house music !!!

Are there any projects you got planned in the near future?

Yes I’m gonna release a new track with Arias with a huge vocal ! It’s gonna be a great release ! Then a few more remixes and of course, gigs everywhere !!!

Relatively new to the dance industry Arno Cost broke into the scene in 2006 and since then has quickly moulded his reputation as one of the scenes most promising young talents. With his musical sensibilities residing within the realms of electronica, disco and house, Arnos’ production and remix work has attracted praise from some of dance music’s most formidable figures, including Pete Tong, Tom Novy and Sebastian Ingrosso.

Arno’s big hit, which evidently put him on the ‘dance map’ came in 2006 in the form of the elegantly crafted smash hit ‘Magenta’, which he composed alongside Arias. Pete Tong and Tom Novy’s adoration of the track was no secret, and with an arresting rework from Dave Spoon, ‘Magenta’ became something of a DJs secret weapon the world over. It was in fact the most played tune at The Amsterdam Dance Event that year. With no doubt as to the potency of Arno’s partnership with production buddies Doray and de la Touche, the status as France’s answer to the Swedish House Mafia is one increasingly linked to the Parisian contingent. Arno has been called on to remix for Laidback Luke, David Guetta and Zoo Brazil’s ‘Kalle’ on Nero Records. Arno’s status as a major international DJ is gaining serious momentum having played shows at The Sydney Freedom Dance Festival and a Cr2 night at Matter in London. Most notably in late 2008, the famous radio station RADIO FG chose Arno to mix its new compilation CLUB FG, following on from David Guetta last year.

Cr2 pres. Live & Direct Norman Doray and Arno Cost

Arno Cost und Norman Doray haben sich zusammen getan, um ein Compilation Album wie kein anderes zu schaffen. Heraus gekommen ist die Live & Direct Compilation, die heute am 26. Oktober 2009 erscheint. Mit weltweiten Einflüssen aus all den Jahren, haben beide jeweils eine CD gemixt, die sich beide brillant ergänzen. Auf der Compilation befindet sich auch exklusiv eine überarbeitete Version des Tracks “Woz not Woz”, der einen riesigen Erfolg darstellt.

Die Compilation beinhaltet ältere Cr2 Tracks sowie aktuelle Tracks, die Arno Cost und Norman Doray derzeit in den Clubs spielen. Mit “Woz not Woz” zeigen beide ihre kreativen Fähigkeiten.

Auch für Arno Cost und Norman Doray, zwei junge aufstrebende DJ’s aus unserem Nachbarland Frankreich, geht der Sommer zu Ende. Arno Cost und Norman Doray dürften spätestens seit Magenta auch hier bei uns bekannt sein. Und auch David Guetta entdeckte ihr Talent und produzierte gleich einen Track, Maw, mit den beiden. Vorab durften die beiden auch schon einen Remix zu “When Love Takes Over” abliefern. Die beiden gehören aktuell - wie Muzzaik - zu Aufsteigern und wir werden sicherlich noch viel von ihnen hören.

Wie jeden Monat ist es heute wieder Zeit für unsere Charts. Wie bereits angekündigt gibt es jetzt nur noch eine Top 10 statt einer Top 20. Das macht uns das Leben wesentlich einfacher bei der Titelauswahl und es gibt viel weniger Wiederholungen aus dem Vormonat. Damit ihr uns ein bisschen Feedback da lassen könnt, haben wir neben der Kommentarfunktion auch wieder eine Umfrage parat. Wir wünschen uns, dass diese mehr genutzt wird als in den Vormonaten. Unsere Charts sind zugegeben doch sehr Minimal und Techno lastig geworden, was in anderen Monaten schon wieder ganz anders ausschauen kann.

Außerdem riefen wir vor einigen Wochen die “User Charts” ins Leben, nachdem wir doch einiges an Kritik bekommen haben, dass die Top 20 nicht all zu doll waren. Leider wurden nur vier Tracks in der Kommentarliste nieder geschrieben, so dass natürlich keine Top 10 entstehen konnte. Nichts desto trotz haben wir die vier Tracks für euch mit dabei. Für die Charts im Juni wäre es also schön, wenn wir die User Charts auch wirklich komplett haben könnten. Ihr seid also gefragt.
